Harwich, from a vantage near the Lower Lighthouse. I noticed later that Constable has a painting which looks seaward from a few hundred yards to the right. The children played happily at the lighthouse, and could hardly be prevailed upon to look at the sea, even when giant ocean-going vessels went past. The painting is at the Tate.
